What does a day on safari actually look like?

What does a day on safari actually look like?

I still remember my first safari in Tanzania. Apart from the fact that I had a few ideas about African safaris from TV, I didn’t know anything about the actual process of a private safari. Unlike group safaris, where the procedures are predetermined, the driver and the vehicle are at your free disposal on your private safari.
The best time for game viewing is early morning. The alarm clock rings shortly before sunrise at around 6 o’clock in the morning. After a short refreshment with coffee or tea, we go on a game drive into the bush. Now, when the night comes to an end, the animals are still active and lions can be seen hunting.

In the meantime, you have watched exciting hunting scenes and experienced a magnificent sunrise that you can only find in the African savannah. Depending on what you agreed with your driver the day before, you will enjoy your breakfast in the bush or return to the accommodation for morning refreshment.

By lunch at the latest, however, you will be back at your lodge or camp. During your private safari, you decide how to spend the afternoon. Whether they prefer to stay in the accommodation, enjoy the pool, watch the animals from their hammock, or go on a game drive again in the afternoon. A very special safari experience is a game drive in the dark. They set off again after dinner, when servals, other African wild cats, and nocturnal animals such as honey badgers and porcupines come out of their hiding places. Or in the Manyara National Park you get the rare opportunity to observe hippos in all their size up close as they feed at night.

However, friends of cozy get-togethers may enjoy sitting around the campfire in a cozy atmosphere and reviewing the day together with other guests with a good glass of wine. The sounds of an African night in your ears and the starry sky above you – and well sprayed with mosquito repellent!

Safari at Night

A safari at night?

In the dark, big cats such as lions and leopards go hunting in Tarangire National Park. Now the nocturnal animals venture out of their hiding places. Watch the Serval, other African wildcats, honey badgers and porcupines in the light of the powerful headlights on your safari vehicle. In Manyara National Park you have the rare opportunity to watch hippos in full size feeding at night.
The cone of light illuminates the stage for hunters and the hunted. Lions, sluggishly dozing in the sun during the day, now show their side as predators and rulers of the savannahs.

Our Offers

We offer you some highlights beyond to the usual safari programs. Follow our human ancestors on foot on a hike from Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano at Lake Natron to the Olduvai Gorge in the Serengeti. Or join the men of the Hadzabe people on their morning hunt. You may also want to enjoy the vastness of the African landscape from the air, from a paraglider. Experienced pilots in Kilimanjaro National Park will take you on this flying experience. Safari highlights for birdwatchers among you are perhaps less our “Big Five” than over 400 bird species in the northern national parks. You wish – We plan to inspire you.

Dive into your honeymoon – on Pemba

Dive into your honeymoon – on Pemba

Why have to choose when you can have both?

This gem of the Zanzibar archipelago, only 67 km long and 22 km wide, is located only 50 km east of the mainland in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and rightly bears the nickname “the green island”. With only three hotels on the island, the list of accommodations is manageable. Pemba is a beach holiday and pure nature.

The island attracts romantic honeymooners with miles of deserted snow-white beaches. Pemba fulfills every tropical cliché without being cheesy. The underwater world of the island is considered by experienced divers as well as beginners as one of the best diving areas on the East African coast. Brave divers can spot hammerhead sharks in the island’s waters or swim with whale sharks. The colorful diversity of the tropical coral world will delight every snorkeling enthusiast.

Aiyana Resort & Spa is our first choice for your stay on Pemba. It offers private villas right on the beach for unparalleled sea views. The resort organizes diving tours and guided island tours and much more. In the offers of the Spa you will find the relaxation you expect from a holiday in the tropics with soothing massages.

Are there safaris for seniors?

We answer this question with a resounding yes! For us, there is no age limit to plan the perfect safari for you and with you.

No matter how many springs of your life you are in right now, if you are planning a safari in the national parks or want to enjoy a beach holiday in Zanzibar. During the preparation, you tell us what is important to you, what we need to pay attention to, and also the things that you may not want. Together we will design your private safari, where only you decide the when, the how, the where and for how long. The safari vehicle is exclusively available to you and your fellow travelers during your private safari. Your personal driver and guide will always have an open ear for your wishes.

With your private safari, there are no stressful peer pressures to follow. We want you to enjoy it in a relaxed way as you pass by the varied landscape on the game drive, you see the variety and number of wild animals live, as you only know it from TV. A photo safari in Tanzania is an experience for all your senses. You can feel the wind when you look out of the open top of the Landcruiser for the Big Five, you hear the sounds of Africa in the bush and in the evening in your accommodation, you smell when you approach a hippo pond before you see the animals and you taste a cool drink when you review the day in the evening.
We plan safaris exclusively according to the wishes of our guests. We don’t ask about age.
